Ruth A. S. Nichols, Ph.D., M.A., M.A., CFLE

This page is dedicated to sharing information about research for patients diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency and/or congenital hyperplasia, and their caregivers.

Dr. Ruth Nichols has been involved in the area of adrenal insufficiency, specifically, CAH. She has been affiliated with the Magic Foundation since 2003, writing articles and participating in conferences. Ruth has been associated with the CARES Foundation since its founding in 2000.  From 2014 to currently, she has participated as a support group leader for Adolescents and Young Adults and Newborns to Age 5, and also individually with parents. She supports the Foundation’s education and fundraising activities and contributes articles for the quarterly newsletter. 

Ruth also has a children’s book in process, Annabelle’s Story About CAH. In the story, Annabelle takes us through the experiences of taking medicine, visiting the doctor, having blood drawn, and going to the hospital due to an adrenal crisis. The purpose of the book is to normalize the experiences associated with a CAH diagnosis. The intended age range is for children ages 3-6. Expected publication date is Spring 2026.

Within the CAH community, Ruth is interested in conducting research and promoting advancements in emergency injectable devices and patient/caregiver experiences with auto-injectors.
